CATHEY ROBINETT

Cathey joined our organization in 2016. Cathey graduated from East Central State University in Ada, Oklahoma with a double major (Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Bachelor of Science in Mathematics) and a minor in Computer Science.

Cathey began her career at Mars working in the lab and performing quality tests on incoming ingredients. She also worked in the Microbiology Lab performing tests on incoming products and in-process samples.

She participated in an accelerated training program on working on the production line. She was certified as servicer in half the time of a normal training program.

She set up a moisture curve using a Near Infrared Analyzer (NIRA) so production could perform analytical testing, and became a Subject Matter Expert for this method and conducted training on the method to several Mars R&D departments.

She installed new Liquid Chromatography equipment, software and developed methods for analyzing sucrose content. She worked in the Information Systems department for 3 years.

She was the lead on a project to investigate and implement ISO 9000 certification at a Mars site. The company sent her to England to observe several plants that were in the process of certification. She then came back and implemented ISO. The plant was the first confectionery plant in the world and the first food manufacturing plant in the United States to achieve certification.

Cathey has recently retired from Coca-Cola Refreshments (CCR) after 15 years which included a wide variety of management systems and computer software support responsibilities. She developed, implemented and maintained a management system which evolved from The Coca-Cola Company requirements to meeting external certification to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and FSSC 22000 (ISO 22000, ISO/TS22002-1). She was the HACCP Team Lead where she developed and maintained HACCP and Food Safety plans for 13 lines and 3 different types of production. She also developed an Internal Auditor Train-the-Trainer program and trained the internal auditors each year on audit protocol. There were approximately 24 auditors per year. She developed several processes for quality control and management that enhanced operation and were adopted throughout the organization.

While working at CCR, Cathey also was involved in several projects including software and hardware support for a stand-alone statistical process control software program including training and managing associates.

Cathey has been trained in the following areas:

  • ISO 9001 Assessor/Lead Assessor

  • Lotus Notes Development

  • Internal Quality Auditing

  • Process Auditing – Train-the-Trainer

  • Safety via Safestart

  • FSSC 22000 Requirements Training

  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced

  • Allergen Training

  • HACCP Plan Development – Juice Specific

  • Advanced HACCP Workshop – Juice Specific

  • HACCP: A Systematic Approach to Food Safety, 21 CFR 120 Juice HACCP and BO-RQ-770

  • Infinity QS (software program used at CCR to get rid of paper, trend data and SPC control)

  • SQCIS (software program used at Mars to trend data and SPC control)

  • Operation Excellence Tools

  • Liquid Chromatography

  • ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma) and AA (Atomic Absorption) – method to analyze metal content in liquids

In 2016, Cathey joined the D. L. Newslow & Associates team as a Management Systems Specialists. Cathey has also recently completed the curriculum to be a FSMA Preventive Controls for Human Foods Lead Instructor. Cathey is especially driven to not only meet requirements, but to improve operations by using the data gathered by these processes and specific to their operation.
